She began her work in Kansas politics part time in 2014 on a grassroots project, entering the political world full-time in 2016 as the Communications and Digital Director for the Kansas Democratic Party. There, she handled statewide communication for the organization and served as the Party’s spokeswoman. For two years, she managed all communications through the office and with the press for both the Minority Leader and the House Democratic caucus. She was promoted to Chief of Staff, a position she held for two years. Heather possesses an invaluable, comprehensive knowledge of the inner workings of the legislature. She was essential to the caucus and Leader in legislative strategy and campaigns, overseeing the 2020 House elections statewide.

Her work in the legislature translated smoothly into her role here as Director of Governmental Affairs. Heather enjoys spending time with her daughter, friends, and family; traveling - when she has time! - coffee; and the New York Times crossword puzzle.
